Tied For Last

First band of a four-band night.

Idiotic steroid-addled "sound" guy showed up late and only brought 2 mike stands so only Tom and I could sing. He also had no monitor for the drummer, way too much attitude, and proceeded to glare at the band through our whole set. His skanky girlfriend dug us though, so that made it all worthwhile.

Very good audience reception throughout. Vocals were a bit low (yet far better then the muddy sound the latter bands had to deal with), but considering the fact that no instruments were miked, the sound balance was otherwise a-ok.

Geller's kick drum pedal broke during "Beautiful in Black." We took an unplanned break for about 3-4 minutes while a duct tape-and-spit repair was done (w/ help from the guys in Pipedream).

During the break, Tom played assorted riffs as the audience called out requests, and then Tom and I did two verses of "Jesse's Girl," while Lally, who doesn't like the idea of covering a Rick Springfield song, kinda glared at us (jokingly?). No denying that audience response though.

The "fixed" drum pedal lasted half a song. The second half of the set was done sans bass drum.

Overall, we had lots of fun.
